News At 11!!

Yes - she passed her driving test. She needed an 80 to pass and got an 88 - Yay for Her!! She had trouble with what most of us had trouble with when taking are test - that darn parallel parking! Why is this on the test?!? It's not exactly something you have to do on a daily basis. If you can't do it then you just drive around until you find a spot to park in where you don't have to parallel park . . . . . Yes I have done this before!

DMV is always a fun place to visit - even on a Tuesday morning it was absolutely crowded. It opened at 830 which is when L's driving test was scheduled - we got there at 815 and there were already 20 people in line - they open and she checks in and is told to go sit in her car and wait for the tester - I think she sat there for at least 10 minutes waiting. Off they drive to take the test - she gets back with a Pass and then she has to get a number so she can get her license - by this time the DMV was packed - standing room only - the first number she pulled was 354 - they were only on 318!! L went and asked someone if she had to pull a number and they said to get one from the other machine - yup just a little confusing! So the next number she gets is 009 and they are on 006. So they call her number and we go up - pay $25 for the license - go get in another line to get her picture taken - which took another 15 minutes. Finally - we were done with the DMV! Now we get to head to the DOL (Dept of Licensing)

I was expecting the wait at the DOL to be just as bad because it is the last day of the month and I thought people would be getting their Sept Tabs - luckily the Issaquah DOL wasn't busy at all - we walked right in and were helped right away. Looks like when L had the registration changed back in June they didn't charge her the Tab Taxes which is why she didn't get a 2009 tab - not sure why they did it that way seeing as she went in at the end of June and her tabs were due the beginning of July - oh well - trying to figure out a government agency causes too much of a headache. Tabs - 54.75. L will be paying me back for all charges when she gets paid next week - too bad it's not before Vegas!

So L is a legal driver now - license - tabs - now she just needs to get the insurance - but hey 2 out of 3 is a great start!

L Update

Let's catch up on the activities of L! It's been awhile since I wrote about what she has been doing - mostly because it hasn't been anything that has caused a major fight in the house.

L has spent the last 2 weekends hanging out with her friend Kelly. The first weekend they were at Kelly's house - I dropped L off there on Saturday morning and brought her home on Sunday. When she got in the car it reeked . . . my whole car instantly smelled like weed. It was disgusting. I had to drive home with the windows down so that the smell wouldn't stay in the car. L just laughed and said it was because she had been smoking weed for the past 9 hours. Now - there's a good use of time. When she got home she went straight to her room and proceeded to pass out for the night. Monday morning when i went in to wake her up her room smelled horrible - her door had been closed all night as well as her window - it was stuffy and smelled of weed and dirty dishes. It continued all week and I told her that she needed to air her room out the coming weekend. She said she may not be home and I said fine - if she wasn't here I would air it out for her.

Now we come to this weekend - L left Friday to head to West Seattle to meet up with Kelly - Kelly's new boyfriend that she met online - and his roommate. His roommate wanted to meet L. She left at 630 and was incommunicado for the whole weekend until Sunday night when she needed a ride home. She called me at 700 and said the bus they were taking was leaving at 800 and could I pick her up from Kelly's house after 900. We had a discussion about how it was late one a work night - couldn't she take a bus to the PR here - yada yada yada. You know how this goes - I gave in and said OK I would get her but that she better hope she passes her driving test on Tuesday because I was not doing this again. So I waited for her to call and let me know they were close to Kelly's. Around 900 I hadn't heard so I texted her - "where are you" - she texted back - "the bus is running late" - "where abouts are you" - "just getting on the bus" I ended up not getting her until 1015 and then had to drive back home. And - buses don't run an hour late - they just lost track of time and caught the later bus.

So - the whole weekend while she was gone I opened her window and door and ran fans to send in fresh air and suck out the bad nasty air. It was nice - didn't last very long though - L came home yet again reeking of cigarettes and weed - slept in her room with the window and door closed - we are now back to where we were before - extremely smelly room. I don't know how she can live in there - it is just disgusting.

On a different L topic - she has her driving test tomorrow morning at 830 - all beware in Bellevue! Keep your fingers crossed - if she passes her test she is just that much closer to getting a foot out the door and heading out on her own.

Cooking Class

I went to a cooking class this morning at Sur La Table with friends from work - April and Putbory. The class started at 1030 and was 2 1/2 hours long. The class was called 5 Classics Every Cook Should Know. We learned how to make French Onion Soup, Roasted Chicken, Pork Loin, Beef Bourganoinne (sp?), and Creme Brulee. The instructor, Ed, was very young, cute, and a good instructor. There were 16 people in the class and we all got a chance to do some hands on work. My first job was to coat the cubed pieces of top sirloin in flour, salt, and pepper - then put the pieces in a pan with oil - Putbory's job was to then brown the meat and then add other ingredients. Some of my other jobs were to slice up the cooked pork loin and then separate the eggs so we could have egg yolks for the creme brulee. It was so much fun!! I will definitely be doing this again. There is a class on baking cookies in October that sounds pretty good.

After the class I ran some errands and then came home in time to watch the Cougs lose yet another game - it was dismal 63 - 14. I am now watching Enchanted on TV to get over the sad game.

It is very relaxing here tonight - L is out and about with her friend Kelly. She caught a bus last night to go in to Seattle to meet up with them and she said she didn't know when she would be home. Hopefully everything is OK and she turns up sometime tomorrow.

Diamond(s) In My Eyes!

I’m not even sure where to start! The concert last night was just incredible. Picture this – a dark stage – the music starts to play – and then a spotlight shines on a guy at the back of the stage with his back to us – slowly he turns around and starts playing his guitar – walking to the front of the stage singing Beautiful Noise! Ladies screaming and lots of clapping! He then moves on to the older songs that everyone remembers. Everyone sang along to Forever In Blue Jeans, Cracklin’ Rosie, and of course Sweet Caroline (So Good So Good So Good). . . . . When he sang Love On The Rocks I was transported back in time to when I used to play this on my tape player and cry because a boy had broken up with me. At the end of You Don’t Bring Me Flowers he slow danced with the gal that sang the duet with him and it was just so romantic . . . . I want one! After we strolled down memory lane he sang some of his new stuff from the Home Before Dark CD - Neil – a guitar – and that incredible sexy deep gravelly voice of his – I felt tingles go up and down my spine. One of the highlights – of which there were many – was when he sang the song Brooklyn Roads and there was a montage of old family movies playing on the screens by the stage. Before I knew it he was saying good-bye and Thank You Seattle and leaving the stage. Of course, a Diamond concert is never a Diamond concert without the best encore songs ever- America and then Brother Loves Traveling Salvation Show. As long as he is touring and singing I will go to see him. This was my 8th Diamond Concert – each time has been a different experience – a lot of the same songs sung – but each crowd is different and I have gone with different people. Last night’s crowd was very energetic – lots of singing, dancing, screaming – and no one behind us told us to sit down! Of course – going with another Diamond Fan is always the best – especially if they are as in love with him as you are. My partner in this is my Mom! She is as big of a fan as I am – we both love him and go weak in the knees when he sings in the deep deep voice! After the concert I got a T-Shirt and Mom and I matching Teddy Bears that are wearing Neil Diamond Rocks t-shirts! I of course have the program too! Mom and I were looking through it before the concert started and sighing over some of the pictures. Dad was a good sport through out it all - he even got up and danced and clapped his hands - no screaming though!

Better Day

Today was a much better day - it started out a little stressful but as the day wore on it got better. I spent a good portion of the day organizing my desk to prepare for quarter end - I felt so much ore relaxed once there was some order to everything. I went grocery shopping after work and when I got home I started to organize my kitchen - oh oh - Spring cleaning in the Fall!

I am reading a new book called The Shack - it's a little obscure book I found in Target. It is a work of Fiction that reads like Non-Fiction. There is a tragedy at the beginning of the book that leads to the main part of the book. This part explores the relationship with Jesus - God - and Holy Spirit. You need to read this with an open mind and let go of some of the preconceived ideas you have about how that relationship should be. It really makes you think - at least it did for me. I am almost done reading the book - if you want to borrow it let me know!

Tomorrow night is Neil Diamond Night!!! I am so excited!! I will write all about it when I get home!

Anxiety

In order to understand what happened today you need to understand what happened during the years I worked at Western.

Western was a high stress company to work for - not only because of the volume of work but because of the increasing abusiveness of the people I worked for. P would make you feel like you were stupid and you didn't know anything - he would call you into his office and just go off on a long lecture about how you had done something "wrong" - wrong because it wasn't the exact way he would have done it. P was very controlling and had to make sure you knew he was in charge every second of the day. For the last year I was there, everyday I went to work I was made to feel incompetent and that I could never do anything right. After being in that environment for so long it's not surprising that there are some lasting effects.

This brings us back to today. As I was driving to work today the closer I got to the office the more stressed out I got - my hands started to shake - my stomach started to hurt - and I had the most horrible headache. I have never had an anxiety attack before but that is exactly what it was. All stemming from what happened on Friday combined with my experiences at Western - this created a stress induced anxiety attack.

I love the drama in my life - Not!

OK - on to a lighter subject. Heroes premiered tonight!! I love that show and the premier has not disappointed so far.

Tomorrow is another day.

Weekend Update

Saturday was a fairly busy day. I had to take Niki to the vet to get a shot of cortisone and get some more meds - her mouth issue had come back and needed some love and attention which she was definitely not getting from L even though she is L's cat. So I wrapped Niki up in a towel and drove her to the vet. She was so good - no howling in the car and went straight to the back room got her shot and came back out. I am now her favorite person - she is very thankful that I take care of her problem - I have nicknamed her Drooly Bug though because this illness causes her to drool massively! Poor girl. Next job was to drive L to Redmond to hang with her friend Kellie - L was typical L and didn't appreciate the ride - just bitched at me about the way I drove there because it took and extra 5 minutes to get there than she had planned on - of course it was my fault and not the line of cars in front of us. When I got home it was time to shower and get ready for the evening - Alicia Keys here I come!!

I met Lyd at a restaurant in Issaquah a little after 600 - Tiger Mountain Grill. This restaurant has gone through many owners and management teams and is yet again under new management. I think they were under staffed because we had a 15 minute wait but when we were shown to our table there were many open tables not being used. It took awhile for our server to come by and get our drink order but once the order was placed it was served up quickly. One big issue - she kept giving Lyd's root beer to me and instead of serving me coke I got diet coke. The food was goof though - I had a Prime Rib Dip with a House Salad and Lyd had a Meatball Grinder with Fries. After dinner it was off to the concert.

The concert was held at the Wamu Theater which is really the Qwest Event Center with heavy curtains put up and seating and a stage. We were 28 rows back from the stage which was great - until the 27 rows of people in front of us stood up and then it was hard for the 5' 4'' person to see much of anything. Alicia has a powerful voice and is a great piano player - she's not a dancer so the actual performance was a little lacking and it wasn't until the very last song and the encore that she sang something that was popular and we knew the words to. Lyd and i decided that we should stick to country concerts where we can actually sing along. Now it was time to leave the parking garage. What a nightmare!! If you have ever parked there before you know that there are 6 levels of parking that are all trying to leave the structure through one exit with 2 lanes. Usually after a football game they have security people directing the cars so that the exodus goes quickly. Not so after the concert. It took us an hour to get out of there!! They finally had security people come and direct traffic after we had been sitting there for about 50 minutes - once they started directing traffic it only took us 10 minutes to get out of there and to I90. Once we got to I90 it was clear sailing back to Issaquah! So we learned from this outing that concerts aren't necessarily our thing - Wamu Theater is not a good venue - next time park on the street because the Qwest Parking Garage is a nightmare.

No plans yet for today - I may make a trip to Target but I'm not sure. It is really cool outside - definitely Fall has arrived here in Washington. I may just snuggle up on the couch with a blanket and watch football! Cougs won yesterday!! Let's hope the Hawks can do the same. I will just put on my Hasselbeck Jersey and cheer them on.

Weird Day

The day started out fine - I got up - got ready - made it to the bus - got to work just in time to head to Starbucks with the group. A typical workday - feeling good because it's Friday and the week is just about over. Then - in the blink of an eye - the day just turned weird - turned bad. We had a department training/meeting scheduled for 1100 over in our other building - some of the group had already headed over and were sitting in the training room when I got there. (I'm going to use initials and not real names) C, A, and L (not my L!) were talking with R - when I came in they were joking around with R regarding a silly nickname C liked to bug R with - I don't know how long that conversation had been going on and R said he was going to quit on Monday if they didn't stop - one thing you need to know is R jokes around with everyone and dishes out a lot of crap to others in the department so sometimes it's hard to tell when he's joking and when he has had enough. Also - he is a very big man at about 6' - 6' 2" and big shoulders with a very deep loud voice. So - back to the story - I made a joking comment to the group and R turned around - face bright red - and yelled at me "I don't know why you insist on doing things that piss me off - just SHUT THE FUCK UP!" This was yelling - everyone heard. Nobody said a word. R and I are on the same peer level at work - there were managers, directors, and even a VP in the room when he did this and not one of them said anything. As upset as am over being yelled at and sworn at in the work place I am even more pissed off that the people at the higher level just sat there and didn't say a word - by not saying anything and keeping quiet they were telling everyone that it is OK to treat co-workers like this - that it's OK to yell profanity at someone. The other people in the room that are on my same level were absolutely shocked at what R said - one of them even looked over at my boss to see if he was going to do anything and he just shrugged his shoulders and looked down at the floor.

Those of my readers that know me well - know that I am not one to push things until someone gets pissed off - if I knew what I said was going to really make him mad I would have kept my mouth closed. I don't know what the other people were taking with him about before I came in - but whatever it was it did not give him the right to yell at me the way he did. I should never have to worry about being treated like that int he workplace. Part of me just wants to find another job and get out of there - but in this economy I am thankful to have a job so I guess I will just have to grit my teeth and steer clear of R.

Great - I have to walk on eggshells at home so as not to piss of L and now I have to do the same at work so as not to piss off R. I have no safe haven anymore.

Splitting Chores

I need some ideas on how to split chores. I want to keep it fair - and make it so they will get done.

Why is this coming up - well - I asked L to clean up her dishes in the kitchen and she said "why - that's your job" - I asked her then what her job is - "Working at the Day Care". Wow - this is the kind of conversation one might have with a significant other. I tried to have a conversation with L about this but it ends up turning into an argument with her - so I am going to write it down and present it to her. I need help though!

Here are the chores that need to be shared:
  1. Dishwasher Emptied
  2. Kitchen Counters cleared and wiped down
  3. Kitchen Floor cleaned
  4. Floors Vacuumed
  5. Cat Box
  6. Recycling
  7. Garbage
  8. Grocery Shopping
  9. Putting Groceries Away
Here are the chores that I think we are both responsible:
  1. Our Own Laundry
  2. Keep Our Own Bathroom Clean
  3. Keep Our Items Picked Up In The Living Room
  4. Wash Our Own Dishes
  5. Wipe Up After Making Anything In The Kitchen
  6. Keep All Clothes In Room and Not In The Hallways

Any suggestions on how to present this would be appreciated!

Oh Anonymous

I have not received any recent comments from Anonymous but I do believe he/she read my blog regarding their comments. If you don't know which ones I mean go back a couple weeks and read the blogs titled Lucky L and Comments.

So - how do I know they read my comments blog? Well - I heard through a little grapevine that someone was not very happy that Topher's Grandpa called me to let me know about the birth of his grandchild and that they let him know that. Really?!?! Getting mad at a Grandpa for calling old friends and letting them know about the birth of his first grandchild. I really can not comprehend this at all - I guess I have never had that much hate for someone and for so long that it consumes me. I think they need to let it go! I could understand being upset if this person called someone you didn't like to let them know about a significant event in your own life - and this event not having anything to do with their own - but being upset over this is just - well - stupid!

So - Anonymous - please comment again if you want - I would really love to hear what you have to say about this. What is it that was done to you 17 years ago that has caused this extreme hatred. I had something that happened in my life 17 years ago that was really horrible - someone lied to me - cheated on me - trusts were broken - things were stolen from me - the life I had dreamed of and planned for was taken from me - my beautiful baby was treated like she was nothing. But - 17 years later I just don't let it eat at me anymore. I look back and realize that it was probably for the best - the thing that was taken from me ended up being worthless - my life is so much better without it - the person who stole it from me is more than welcome to it and I hope it has given them the life they had hoped for. And - if it hasn't - if that life is not everything they dreamed of - they shouldn't blame me - I didn't give it to them - they took it - and they probably have gotten everything they deserved.

Political Satire

If you have not had a chance to see the performances of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler from this past weekends Saturday Night Live here's your chance. I thought this was absolutely hilarious. Tina Fey's impersonation of Sarah Palin was spot on!!

Dog Park

Hey ~ it's Muppet! Mom thought it would be best for me to talk about our day so you could get it from my perspective. Mom took me to what she called an "off leash dog park". I wasn't exactly sure what this was - I just knew that she grabbed my leash and I got to go for a car ride! I love to ride in the car - especially when Mom doesn't hook me up in my car seat so I can crawl over and ride in her lap. It's the best of both worlds - I can see out the window and I get to be close to my Mom - I like to be close to Mom!

First thing we did was go to a drive thru! I got very excited because drive-thru usually means I'm getting french fries! I was so excited but when we got up to the window all they handed us was something to drink - dang it - Starbucks Drive Thru - no food for dogs. We then drove in the car for about 20 minutes and then parked. Mom put my leash on and I got out of the car. First thing I noticed - it was warm - second thing - I was having to walk on rocks. I don't like to walk on rocks - no matter how big or small they are. I walked across the rocks and to a place that had sawdust and lots of smells. I stopped and smelled this one group of grasses - and sniffed - and sniffed - and sniffed. Mom pulled me and made me walk to another area. There she took my leash off - Oh!! Off-Leash Park! I get it. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do so I just stood there and sniffed at some more plants. While I was sniffing - minding my own business - two really big dogs came up and just started to sniff my butt - oh yeah - that's always enjoyable. I ignored them and they walked off - then this Jack Russell Terrier came running up - gave me a quick sniff in the butt - and then started hugging me from behind - what the hell!!! I do not believe I gave him permission to do that. Then - to make matters worse - he drooled on my back!! Gross!! Mom smacked him and said to get off - good grief where were his parents. I gave Mom a sad look and she put my leash back on and we walked away from this group of gropers!!

The next place we came up to at the park had stairs that led down to water - oh great - I know what that means - Mom's going to want to try and turn me in to a water dog. I don't like to get wet. We walked down the stairs and there were all these big huge dogs running into the water - fetching tennis balls - climbing out and shaking water off - and then jumping back in. Idiots!! Mom got me close to the water and then I sat down and dug in my heels - I'm not going in I told her - with my eyes. Dang it - she picked me up and put me down so that the water came up to my ankles - I tried to move away and my back foot slipped making my butt slide into the water. I just stood there and stared at her. She didn't notice though because she was too busy looking at the big dogs and talking to one of the owners about how this was the big dogs first time swimming too.

We finally left the water area. We walked for a bit - I found a nice patch of weeds and did my business - and then I decided I had had enough - I sat down - leaned a little to the side - and refused to walk anymore. I like to do this - it kinda embarrasses Mom!! She finally picked me up and we headed back to the car.

When we got home I found a nice quiet spot and immediately went to sleep. You wouldn't believe how exhausting it is to have dozens of strange dogs sniffing at you!!

Washington Apple - Yum!

I have actually been busy and this is the first chance I have had to actually sit down and write! Yesterday day after work a group of us from Finance went out to Happy Hour at Mexico in Pacific Place. I figured I would go - have one drink - head home on the bus in time to watch most of the Cougar game on the Internet. I stayed longer! I had a really good time - chatting - getting to know people outside of work - having Happy Hours!! Not to mention - the Cougs were not starting off very well so there really wasn't any reason to head on home. I was going to go catch the 736 bus but when I asked Charles for the time it was already 736 - yup not going to make that bus - so David said looks like we have time for another round! I was going to then try for the 806 bus - but at 800 I knew there was no way I was going to catch that bus either - so yup - another round! This time I tried a drink called the Washington Apple Shot - it literally tastes like apple juice. It was really good - good thing it was the last drink otherwise I may have had to have another one of those! I left for the bus - walked as fast as I could - of course hit every crossing when it switched to Do Not Walk. I got to the last crossing - my bus was already there and my sign said Do Not Walk - SO I didn't walk - I ran!! No traffic so I was safe but I had to catch this bus because the next one wasn't going to be there until 936 and I was not hanging around on 2nd Ave for an hour. On my way to the bus I gave L a call. I asked her if she could call one of her friends to drive her to the Park and Ride because I thought it would be best if she drove me home. I didn't feel drunk - I felt like I could probably drive - but then that's what a lot of people who get pulled over think so I figured it just wasn't worth taking a chance. I was very appreciative and glad that L was at home on a Friday night.

This morning I got up and drove L to her friend Kellie's house - they were heading to the Puyallup Fair - I gave some money so she could bring home some Fair Scones!! Those are the best things in the world! After I dropped her off I went to run errands. The Linens and Things in Issaquah is going out of business and they are having a huge liquidation sale. Both L and I needed new bed pillows - the ones we have were getting pretty flat! Linens and Things had them for $8 for a pack of 2 - good price. Next I headed over to PetCo to get a new cat comb and nail clipper - can't seem to find the ones I had - then it was to Ross. Ross is one of those stores that I go to every month or so to see what kinds of items they have - sometimes you can find good things and other times I can go through the racks and find nothing. I found a couple shirt for $7.99 - then it was off to Target! One of my favorite places! I found a few items there - then when I was in the parking lot L called to see if I could pick her up form Kellie's house - they were on their way back from the fair. So it was off to get her and then back home - I had left the house at 1130 this morning and didn't get back until 600! I got home and finished watching the UW football game - David won the bet he made with Divina last night - he said the Huskies were going to lose by 17 or more points and Divina thought it would be closer - both of them are Huskies. I also made Apple Cup bets with both of them - $5 - this is either going to be a great year for me or a not so good year - I now have 3 bets on this game. After we made the bets David made a joke saying that great - not only did we all have a drinking problem but now we had a gambling problem too!

Between the two days I had a great time! Oh - and Putbory likes the idea of cooking classes so I am going to look up the information and forward it on to her to see which ones she would be interested in.

L is out right now with her friend Jess and I am going to head to bed.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Full Circle Farms

At work we have the option to sign up for organic Fruits/Vegetables to be delivered to work. Full Circle Farms is who delivers the food. Putbory has been getting boxes for a couple months now and some of the things she was getting looked really good. I decided to go ahead and sign up. Well - I got my first box today! I have corn, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, radishes, golden beets, cucumber, carrots, limes, peaches, nectarines, grapes, and pluots. It's all organic and most of it is grown here in Washington. In case you're wondering - Pluots are a cross between plums and apricots. They are really sweet and taste mostly like plum. Golden Beets - according to Google - are a little sweeter than regular beets. I had to Google a recipe because I have no idea what to do with them. I will let you know how they taste. The process for getting your box is that you have from Friday at noon until Sunday before your delivery to look on the website and see what is scheduled to come in your box. You can make up to 5 substitutions so you can get rid of anything that you really aren't going to eat. I decided to go ahead and keep the Golden Beets because I decided it was a chance to be a little adventurous and try something i wouldn't normally buy in the store - in fact I'm not even sure I've ever seen Golden Beets in my grocery store.

I have been surfing the web tonight looking for Cooking Classes in my area. It's something I've thought about doing for awhile now - so time to stop thinking and start doing. I have found about 4 places in the Seattle area and 1 place in Kirkland that I am going to look into. I am tired of not having anything planned on the weekends. I am also going to take Muppet to an off-leash dog park - give her a chance to run around and not have to worry about the psycho neighbors downstairs. Not to mention - I heard that dog parks are one of the best places in the Seattle area to meet people!! We shall see!!

Fringe

OK - I have only seen one brand new show that is out this season but it is already my favorite! If you did not watch Fringe last night (Tuesday) you have got to watch it - I believe there is an encore showing of the pilot later this week. Not only does it have the cute bow from Dawson's Creek . . . . No not Dawson . . . . . . . Pacey!!! Joshua Jackson looks even better now and he is really good in this show. He plays serious but also has some of the best comedic lines in the show. I have heard this show called The X-Files with science not aliens. The science is really interesting - believable - and easy to follow. I'm telling you - Best New Show of the season!! I will definitely either watch this one the day it is on or it will be a top priority on my DVR.

I pretty much just watched my DVR recording of Fringe tonight and then switched over to Project Runway. *****SPOILER ALERT***** Skip to the next paragraph if you don't want to know anything about tonight's show******
So - two more of the designers that were driving me crazy were "Out" tonight! Yea!! Blayne - the tanning salon addict from Seattle is gone. I was rooting for him at the beginning just because he was the hometown boy but his designs were getting more and more out there the longer the season went on. His design tonight was dreadful - one of the judges said the model looked like she was pooping fabric!! The other designer - Terri - was just a very opinionated bitch - in tonight's episode they were assigned a partner to be their assistant and she just absolutely refused to work with hers and when she was talking to the judges she refused to take responsibility for it and tried to place the blame all on her "assistant" She just needed to be gone.

***SPOILER ALERT OVER****

I was going to blog about this one person at work who just really really pissed me off today but once I got home I decided that I may have overreacted a bit and if it wasn't a few days before that lovely "visitor" is going to be here I probably would have handled the situation a whole lot better. I just really need to be at my desk heads down processing when I am in this mood and not interact with anyone.

Oh - another recommendation!! If you have not tried the new oatmeal that they are serving at Starbucks - yes Starbucks! You have got to try it. It is soooooooo good and I compared the calories of Quaker Instant Plain Oatmeal to the Starbucks Oatmeal and Starbucks has less calories. I have become addicted and I have that for breakfast every day now. I guess - as addictions go - being addicted to oatmeal isn't really that bad.

So - things to remember. . . . . . . watch Fringe, avoid me when I am in a bad mood, and eat Starbucks Oatmeal!

Yay Fall TV!!

My old shows are starting back up and new shows are grabbing my interest. Of course I now have that problem of too many shows on at the same time and not being able to record them all! Why is it that there are some days when there is nothing on that I want to watch and on other days there too many shows I want to watch. Like tonight - 800 - Big Brother 10, Fringe, and 90210. Tomorrow night at 800 - absolutely nothing. Good thing I have a video iPod because I may just have to buy some episodes on iTunes. Or - if I'm lucky - some of the shows will be available On Demand. Time to start working on my Fall schedule!

Not a lot to write about today. Work was fine - well it was ok - well I was a little ticked off. I am a Supervisor and I am having a performance issue with someone that reports to me. I have tried different ways of talking to this person and coaching them to no avail - it's like talking to a child and they just nod their head and agree with what you're saying and then when they leave they just forget everything because they just don't care. So - 2 major month end errors came up today that have created some items that may not be able to be fixed. I talked with my Manager to see if he had any ideas on what else I can do - he gave me nothing. So I emailed one of the people in HR to see if there are any procedures or policies in place at the company on how to handle this. I then went to my manager to let him know that I was going to go talk to HR to get some assistance and he told me "No - I couldn't do that" What?!?!?!?! He said everyone makes mistakes - I said yeah but this isn't just one mistake that there have been multiple issues over the past few months that have created reconciling items for other people in Finance - there have been major attitude problems - and no attempt at trying to make changes. He said he would have to talk to the person her reports to to see what they think and he would get back to me but that I can not meet with HR. You have got to be kidding me!! Part of my performance review is based on how the person that reports to me completes their duties and he's just tied my hands and I can't deal with the issues at hand. Friggin ridiculous!!!!!!!

Well - tomorrow is another day - Yippee! (sarcastic tone :P)

An Ordinary Day

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad! I think this is their 47th!! That is amazing - especially in this day and age - it is very rare to have parents who have stayed together. I consider myself very lucky to have them for parents.

Work was good today. I got in a little later than usual - I had time though to go through all the many piles on my desk. I feel like I actually accomplished something. Now - if you look at my desk it doesn't look like I did much because it's still rather cluttered - but I was busy all day and I definitely got caught up.

After work I got to do the lovely job of grocery shopping. Through out the day L kept texting me to add things to the list. There was an accident on I90 so it took longer to get home than usually so I didn't get to the grocery store until 630. I was done and back home by 730 - of course L called once during that time to see if I was almost done - she was starving :P I get home and does she offer to help bring the groceries up.......offer to help unload the groceries.......nope she just starts digging through the bags and eating everything I just bought. I swear - if it's all gone in a week she's going to just have to starve cuz I am not buying any more - and I don't get paid for another week and a half. I was going to bake tonight but I didn't get done unloading and putting stuff away until after 800 - maybe I'll do the baking tomorrow.

I just finished reading another really good book - The Secret Lives of Cee Cee Wilkes. I am going to send this one down to Lindsay - I think I am her bookstore! lol! I came across this book when I was wandering Target - it's marked as one of their Target Book Club books. I have purchased a few of their book club books and they have all been good reads. I definitely recommend this one.

Well - it's 10 and I need to get to work on time tomorrow - I have a 500 appt so I need to leave work at 400.

History Is Made

I couldn't post yesterday - I was just too upset after the football game - at least I think it was a Football Game - the Cal Bears showed up for it but I think the Cougs got lost on their way to the stadium. That was the most embarrassing game I have ever watched. They made history - It was the worst lost in school history - Yeah Team!

The other Cougs won - BYU - Yeah Jason! It was sad though at the end - the Huskies made a possible game tying touchdown with seconds left - it was the QB that ran it in to the end zone - he was excited and tossed the ball - the refs called him for excessive celebration. Come On - he wasn't jumping around and getting in the face of anyone - he just made a touchdown with seconds left in the game!! The refs gave them a 15 yard penalty on the extra point instead of on the kick off - the kick was blocked - the Huskies ended up losing by 1 point. Sad Sad Sad.

Muppet got a nice haircut yesterday - it's a little short - in the middle of the night she came up by my head and was shivering so I put her under the blanket. She usually doesn't like being under anything so I know she was really cold.

Earlier in the day she was a WSU Fan - she was wearing her Cougar Football Jersey!

Well - tomorrow starts another week. Work Work Work!

Comments!!

I never know when something that I write is going to hit a nerve with a reader. If you have not read yesterday's blog and comments you really should.

Wow - I think I definitely hit a nerve with "anonymous". When you read the comment you can just feel the anger and venom flowing from it. He/She has some definite animosity towards me being called "Great Aunt". Either this person is part of the Householder Family (the part that doesn't like me which I think there are either 2 or 3 of them) or they are friends of the 2 or 3 that have carried a hatred for me for about 17 years now - about time to let it go don't you think. I still have yet to figure out exactly what it is that I did to piss them off so much. Carrying all of that anger/hatred around can't be good for you - maybe "Anonymous" needs to seek counseling and get some Psychological help.

Anyways - back to being called Great Aunt. I would never just give myself that title. L's Uncle Chris - who is the baby's Grandpa - called me to let me know about the birth of his first Grandchild. I was surprised and happy that he called to share this information with me. While we were talking I was giving him a hard time about being a Grandpa - saying how we were just too young for that to be happening. He then says to me - "Well, you're a Great Aunt now." I was kind of quiet and he said that in his house he considers me his children's Aunt and that would make me a Great Aunt now.

So - "anonymous" - you may want to get all of your facts straight before you go off on someone - if you are that upset about me being called Great Aunt then you really need to take it up with Topher's Grandpa.

Lucky L

Update on Lucky L - I am calling her that because only someone with her kind of luck could have achieved the following: Last year at this time she got a job working full-time at the daycare - in February she was fired due to calling in "sick" too many times and not being reliable - 2 weeks later they bring her back on part-time - she then gets some extra hours during the summer - and as of this week she is back on full-time. No one else could have gone from being fired to having their job back in less than a year. I swear - things just always seem to fall in to place for that girl and she never seems to have to endure any type of consequence for any amount of time. Dang!

I became a Great Aunt this week - at least some people on L's Dad's Family consider me that. My brother-in-law Chris became a Grandpa on Tuesday when his oldest daughter - my niece by marriage even though I am no longer married - had a baby boy! Chris is my age and it seems so weird to think of someone from my group being a Grand Parent. The baby's name is Christopher Neil Thomas Beckitt - they are going to call him Topher. I went shopping today for a baby gift to send. Chris is a UW Husky and I found some really cute Husky Onsies - yes, this Coug actually touched and purchased some Purple and Gold. I hope they like them.

Tonight on Big Brother is an eviction night and a new HOH competition - wouldn't you know it - my TV Cable went out!! Luckily read the Blog so I can find out what happened but I was looking forward to watching it. It is so quiet around here without the TV for background noise - I may just have to go to sleep seeing as I have nothing else to do.

Happy Birthday To Me!

44 years ago today at 945 am I was born after putting my Mom through 10 hours of Labor! I guess I have always been a little bit stubborn! I told my Mom that it's because I loved her so much that I always wanted to be with her!

My birthday today was the best one I have had in a long time! First I got text messages from both of my nieces and my sister - birthday wishes from Texas! When I got to work there were signs posted around the department wishing me a Happy Birthday! BJ - my Starbucks buddy - treated me to my hot chocolate today and then I got flowers at work from my parents. They are beautiful - they are still at work so I will try to get a picture of them tomorrow so I can post it. Later on in the afternoon we had department treats - cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory!! Good thing all food has 0 calories on your birthday!

Then came the best part - I knew that Lydia had something planned because I had to be at my house by 500 - but she wouldn't give me any hints so I have been very curious for a week now! So Lyd picked me up at 500 and we headed out - but we didn't go very far - she pulled into the Klahanie Shopping Center. She said I had to know now where we were going but I had absolutely no clue. She parked the car and I followed her to - Moon Lodge Spa!! She had scheduled me for a massage!! I haven't had a massage in I don't know how long. I so needed one to - this body was feeling very tired after 44 years of living! It was the best one - I felt so relaxed - and could have just slept right there! If you have never had one I highly recommend it - and if you live in the area I highly recommend calling Moon Lodge. I may need to make this a regular thing! After we were done we headed to Cucina Cucina for dinner - I had Lasagna with Italian Meatballs - then we split an Apple Pie Ala'Mode for dessert.

Overall - this was just an absolutely incredible day. I am now going to go relax in my bedroom and sleep a relaxing sleep.

September Already?!?

I am having a hard time believing that it is September already - where did August go?!? For that matter -what happened to summer - I don't remember having one! Today it was 54* when I got up - not summer! I bet the leaves start changing colors any time now. And didn't I just have a month end at work - it's month end again - time to work late.

I can't remember if I have blogged about the gal that works for me - not going to name her but those who work with me know who I'm talking about. Anyways - one of her jobs is to make the deposits at the bank and at month end that means that every check that is received on the last work day of the month has to be deposited. Friday was that day and the mail was running late - it didn't get delivered until 4:00 - no problem because the bank is open until 6:00 - but this gal - who never works late at all even though she has been talked to about it by me - comes to my desk at 4:00, tears in her eyes, saying "The mails not here and I got in at 730 this morning so I should be going home." I'm not sure what she expected me to say but I don't think it is what I said - "Well, it's month end and sometimes you have to work overtime to get everything done." Yeah - she wasn't happy. I should also let you know that she had been on vacation for a week and a half and while she was gone I did the deposits for her - it doesn't take as long as she likes to try and make it and it's not exactly difficult. Guess I will be having yet another little chat with her.

Labor Day

Ah Labor Day ~ A Day For Labor! I have spent the day cleaning out my closet and getting my room back in order. It's looking pretty good! I used yesterday as my lay around and do nothing day so today was the chores day. L pretty much used the whole weekend as a lay around do nothing day. She's spent her time playing guitar hero and nothing else. Then last night she had had enough of being "stuck" in the house all weekend and decided to take it out on me. She wanted to take y car to Jenny's house because she had just called and L wanted out of the house. Of course, the answer was no and we all know how that answer sits with L. She just had to argue about it and wanted to know why - I didn't bite though and just said I didn't owe her any explanations because the car was mine and the answer was no. She then yelled at me and called me a "Bipolar Whore". Ahh - can you feel the love! She just really knows how to get on my good side!

Today has been better - mostly because she has either been in her room or playing guitar hero so I haven't seen much of her. About an hour ago I realized it had been really quiet so I looked in the living room - not there - went in to her bedroom - not there - Where the Hell did she disappear to? I sent her a text "Where Did You Go?" - she sent back "I'm With My Friend Jes." Hmmmm - don't know who that is and so nice of her to just say bye or something when she left. Oh well - that's just me expecting her to change and have consideration for others - never gonna happen.

On a happy note - here are a couple of pics of Muppet and Buffy while I was cleaning my room! Do you think Muppet was a little relaxed!! LOL!!

Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend!
