Curls, L, and a Current Event

Curls . . . . . I have curls!!!!!  Yup - got a perm yesterday.  My regular stylist couldn't do - Bonnie is pregnant and just couldn't handle the smell right now - so she sent me to her friend Jan.  Bonnie gave Jan the perm she usually uses on me and told her which color rods to use.  Bonnie's not a fan of me wearing my hair curly so she usually will just give me bigger curls for body - but . . . seeing as she wasn't doing it I was able to get Jan to give me smaller curls!!  Yay!!  I can scrunch and go on those mornings that I just want to sleep for 15 more minutes!!  I am a happy happy camper!

L seems to be doing better today . . . . she got a voicemail from her Uncle Chris and a call from her dad. They both explained to her what happened . . . . she let them know that she wasn't mad about them not getting her a ticket to NC . . she was mad that no one had called her and let her know what was going on.  Apparently Chris thought Alan was talking to L and Alan thought Chris was . . . . great communication skills all around! :-P

Now - the topic I was going to write about before the L situation came up . . . . not sure how many of you have seen this on the news but a week ago there was another altercation involving the Seattle Police Department.  In an area where jaywalking is a huge problem there was a policeman who was ticketing people . . . . one girl started resisting and so was getting arrested . . .her friend decided she needed to step in and started pushing the policeman, grabbing his arm, and trying to get him away from her friend.  The cop ended up punching the girl in the face and then arresting her.  Of course, someone got the whole thing on video and sold it to a news station - King 5 - who only showed the portion of the video  that had the cop punching the girl.  The headline was . . . Cop Punches Girl . . . . nothing about the girls resisting arrest or pushing around the cop trying to get in the way of him doing his job.  Most of the discussion was about whether the cop should have hit a girl . . . . you've got to be kidding me!  If someone is resisting arrest or getting in the way of a cop doing his job then the cop should be able to do whatever is necessary - no matter whether the person is a guy or a gal.  A day or so later the conversation turned to it being racist . . yes . . the cop was white and the girls were black.  This of course became the topic once the video went viral . . . the Today Show, Good Morning America, and The Early Show all had people on to talk about it . . . no one talked about what the girls had done they all were ready to string up the cop for hitting a girl . . then the Rev Al Sharpton got involved saying that it never would have happened if the girls were white.  I have come to the conclusion that Al Sharpton thinks everything is race related . . . if it wasn't he would be out of a job . . no one would ever have him on TV to talk about these situations.  If you look at the polls in the local media most everyone believes the cop was justified and this had nothing to do with race.  So where is Sharpton getting his information . . I don't think he even came out this way and talked to anyone involved in the skirmish . . he just saw the few seconds of video that were on the TV and jumped to conclusions that would get him on TV.  I get so fed up with everything being turned in to a race issue . . . . isn't thinking that a white cop would only be aggressive towards a black person racist?

I believe that the cop was justified, that it shouldn't matter that the person resisting arrest was a girl, and that race had nothing to do with it.
