I'm Tired
I'm tired tonight so here's a picture of my Turtle Cake that I made for work today and a video of the cutest kid just rockin' out to some good country music!

Turtle Cake!
I have baked a lot this month! I am currently baking up a Turtle Fudge Cake for Trevor's birthday at work tomorrow! Devils Food Cake, Chocolate and Caramel melted together and poured over the top of the cake, and Chopped Pecans sprinkled on top - Just like a Turtle Candy! I have had this cake before but this is my first time baking it - I hope it turns out.
Lyd said she should be able to come by Friday after work with her truck and help get L's bed, dresser, and crap moved to her apartment. I just want to finish getting everything out of here so I can start making it feel more like my place. I sent a text to L to let her know about the tentative plans - her response - OK. Well, at least I know she got the text!
Yesterday a friend from High School was featured on local radio station - KZOK. Scottie Sindora singing live! You can watch the video of his performance at www.bobrivers.com - Click on Latest Shows - choose Tuesday April 28 - it is listed as unexpected idol Scottie!
My cakes are done and cooling - I'm going to head to bed.

You Have Some Nerve
I have to tell you - L has a lot of nerve! She came by the house tonight to pick something up and proceeded to ask me for gas money! Can't I just have $7 for gas - No, $7 is all I have on me until payday - Guess I'll be camping out - Where? - Here! - Uh No! You're not staying here! - I don't have enough gas to get back to the apartment. A discussion about me not bailing her out, needing to plan ahead - you know, everything I always say that goes in one ear and out the other! I then offered her $2 for 1 gallon of gas - she told me that wouldn't get her a gallon. She then went in to the spare room and made a couple calls to friends. She then came out and left - without the $2 for gas so I guess she didn't really need it after all.

Hmm . . . Monday
I am hanging out on my bed with Muppet watching Big Bang Theory! This show just cracks me up! I would love to meet the guy who plays Sheldon to see what he's like in real life - is he nerdy like Sheldon or is he that great of an actor - being nerdy, OCD, Sheldon just seems to be so natural for him.
No blogging over the weekend - nothing really blog worthy to write about. L did make a pit stop by the house on her way to work - she used the excuse that she didn't want to get to work early - yeah whatever. She came in and went back to the bedroom - came out wanting to know where the computer was. I told her I hadn't logged in yet - ignoring the actual question of where the PC Laptop was. I logged in and let her use my Mac. You know - she's not the brightest bulb in the box sometimes. The way I figure it - she took pictures with her cell phone, emailed them to herself, and needed a regular PC in order to load them to her MySpace. She loaded the pics to my computer - moved them to the trash - but never deleted them from the trash. I'm so proud! Here's the pic :
I guess I know what she's doing at her new place. Definitely not making any changes yet - no good decisions - just hanging out and getting by. She still needs to come get her bed and other crap - she mentioned on Sunday that she hasn't found anyone with a truck yet. Hey - if any of my readers live close by and have a truck - I will pay for gas and treat you to lunch if you help me transport all her stuff to where she is living now! I just need to make a clean break - no option for her to sneak her way back in.

Week 1
It has now been 1 full week since L left the house. I have not seen her since last Wednesday. She has called a couple times but it's been because she wanted something. She called today because she had locked herself out of her car and wanted me to pick her up from work, drive her out to the apartment in Tukwila to get her spare key, and then bring her back out her car! Oh yeah - that's how I wanted to spend my evening - driving down 405 at rush hour - NOT! But Mom - I've tried other people and no one else can help me out. Luckily I remembered that her Bama and Bepa put her on their AAA membership at Christmas time - I told her that's what the card is for and to give them a call and then let me know. I texted her around 430 to find out if she had gotten in her car and her response was - Yes. No more no less - and I probably won't hear form her again until she needs something.
I am still enjoying my life in my house! Came home tonight and made Sloppy Joes for dinner and then baked cookies to bring in to work tomorrow. I haven't made my Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookies in awhile and had the urge to do some baking. Tomorrow I will be leaving work at 100 - I have a Dr appointment at 200 - then the weekend will start. No plans for Saturday - Sunday I have a brunch meet-up and my book club is meeting at 200.

Beauty Night
This evening was all about me!! LOL! I had a "Bonnie" appointment. Bonnie has been doing my hair for 10 years now. I love my Bonnie appointments. Not only does she do my hair but she's a great listener - I have a lot of fun when I am there. Today was cut, curls, and wax! Bonnie is not a big fan of perming my hair but she will do it about twice a year for me - she knows I love my curls! I then pay her to torture me - gotta make sure I don't get a unabrow!
I am now just hanging on the couch and watching America's Next Top Model - I had actually forgotten about it this season and haven't been watching it - they are now down to the final 6. I am sure Oxygen will be doing a marathon of this season soon! There is on girl who has the biggest eyes I have ever seen - They are blue, big, and round! I think she's going to probably win because she has something different and doesn't look like every other model. We shall see! I have now set it up on my DVR so I don't miss the rest of the episodes.
No L update really - I haven't heard from her since yesterday. She came by yesterday to pick up a box I had left on the front porch for her - it contained those items she left in her room and can't seem to live without. I included the disturbing items and didn't say anything - so she knows I found them but she didn't say a word when she called to say she had picked up the box. I think I will probably get my L updates from her Facebook status - yesterday it said she was "baked like a cake" - I'm so proud!
I forgot to put this in on Monday ***Shout Out to Colleen and Lindsay - finished the Boston Marathon together with hands raised. I am a proud sissy and auntie!***
Week is half over! Enjoy!

Smile!! :) :)
Good Day! Sun - No Stress - Cool Treat from the past. Who could ask for more.
The grocery store I shop at has a new line of ice cream treats called Cool Classics. A few weeks ago I got Neapolitan Ice Cream Sandwiches. Today I discovered they have Strawberry Shortcake Ice Cream Bars! I so remember those from growing up - they were one of Colleen's favorites - although I'm not sure she will remember! These days - the simplest things can make me happy! It's so nice!
It has been a little weird these last few days - I wasn't sure why and then it came to me today - It feels weird to be so happy! I had become so used to feeling stressed out, dreading coming home at the end of the day, cringing at the sound of footsteps coming up the stairs - that being happy and relaxed feels foreign to me. I kinda like it! It's fun to come home at the end of the day and hang out on my back deck. Last night I came home and gave Muppet a much needed bath and tonight I came home and made a hamburger, fries, and a fresh fruit salad!
I was feeling so happy today that I bought myself some flowers!

Don't Use Sprint!
After spending 45 minutes on the phone today with Sprint I am so glad I no longer have my cell service through them!! This is the third time I have had to talk to them about the same issue.
February 2008 I purchased a new phone on my Sprint account. I paid full price - not the discounted price - because I did not want to get locked in to another 2 year contract with them - my contract was set to end November 2008. Back in October I was looking at my account online and it showed my contract end date to be 2/2010! I called and spoke with "customer service" and the guy at that time told me that in their system the contract end date was 11/08 and not to worry about it. January I changed my cell service to T-Mobile - ported my number over - no problem. I called Sprint to cancel the rest of my account because L changed service providers at the same time. Gee - guess what - the gal said I would be charged an early termination fee of $200! I went through the whole story with her - she needed to do some research - came back and said I was correct - she would note this on the account - and all would be fine.
In February there was an automatic withdrawal made to my account for my final Sprint bill and it seemed higher than I thought it should be. I called and had a copy of the invoice sent to me. Got the copy - Gee - Guess What - I was charged $200 Early Termination Fee!!! I called yet again - spoke with yet another "customer service" representative - went through the whole story again. Of course, there were no notes on my account! This time it took them 45 minutes to research whether I had actually paid full price for the phone, make sure I hadn't signed a new contract, and then verify I wasn't lying about having received the charge on my final bill. After all of this, Brendan informs me that this is more than he is allowed to credit so he will need to submit a request and I should hear in 2 - 5 business days whether the credit has been approved. Then he ends the conversation with "Thank You For Choosing Sprint!" Oh Good Lord - I didn't choose Sprint - I quit Sprint! Now give me back my $200!

News Update
Sorry - our evening news reporter fell asleep before the newscast! Here is the latest update:
Spring cleaning has started at De's house. The first room scheduled to be cleaned is the newly vacated spare bedroom. The previous tenant had not fully moved all of her belongings out so De decided to box them up so she could find the carpet and vacuum. Everything was going along as usual, lots of clothes, garbage, old food, and disgusting dishes - L drank a lot of milk so there were a couple of glasses that had been sitting around for awhile. Then came the time to clean out the old nightstand - this is when certain disturbing items were discovered. Behind the nightstand - hiding between the nightstand and the wall - was a bong that looked like it had been used recently. In the nightstand drawer were two hypodermic needles along with an empty package labeled Insulin Needles!! This came as a shock!! De was aware of the marijuana usage but not anything else. A metal measuring spoon was also found that looked like it had been used to heat things up as there were burn marks on the bottom. On the floor was a broken pen casing that also looked like it had been burned on one end. De, being naive about drug paraphernalia, has no idea what these could be used for but is shocked that she found anything like this.
Spring Cleaning is scheduled to resume today but De is thinking she may just go outside and enjoy the sun. The spare bedroom will still be there later and will still be empty!

It's A Wonderful Life
This has been a wonderful day. I feel like a heavy burden has been lifted from my shoulders - I am just giddy - smiling all day - haven't felt this good in a while. Don't get me wrong - I love L and I hope she is able to figure things out and get on with her life - but I feel like this long journey with her has ended and a new journey in my life has begun.
I went out to dinner with my 40 Something Club and had a blast! There were about 15 people there and I had met 3 of them before at previous events. The new people I met were great! I felt so comfortable talking with them - we talked, laughed, ate good food - went to Claim Jumper. I had a salad and it was really good.
I am now home - watching my recording of Survivor. I'm telling you - have not been this relaxed in such a long time!
Life Is Grand!

Here We Go Again
I am slowly coming out of the L induced Fog I've been in - the indecision fog cleared this morning when I discovered 4 additional charges on my credit card! I called the bank - spoke with a Fraud Specialist - we went over which pending charges were mine and he informed me that someone tried to use the card again this morning but it was declined because I had closed the account last night. So - after I spoke with her last night and she inundated me with pleading texts to not do this to her she went out again and tried to use my card!! Un-Frickin-Believable!!
She called me this afternoon around 330 and asked if we could get together and talk things out tonight - I told her No - that I found out that she stole my extra card and was making charges. Of course - deny, deny, deny - I don't have a card. I said - then I don't know how you did it but I have proof that you made fraudulent charges to my card. I told her that at this point she should consider herself lucky because I was not going to press charges - but she was no longer welcome in my house. Tears - where am I supposed to go - please, please, please - don't you care anymore - am I not your daughter. My response to that was - she is still my daughter but she is also a thief and is not welcome in my house. She responded with - If I get killed on the street it will be all your fault. I said - No, it would be her fault because of her decisions. AT this point she hung up on me.
Right now she is here packing up some clothes and her bathroom stuff. I have my purse by my side so she can't take anything out of it - not that I have anything in there - just $21 and my bus pass. I called her Dad and let him know what was going on - wanted him in the loop this time so if L calls him he knows what's going on.
OK - so about 20 minutes have passed - I just helped carry a bin of crap down to her car. This after she yelled at me because her iPod is broken - my old one that I let her use - she has no radio in her car. Then after we got to her car she proceeded to tell me that I don't care about her and probably wish she was dead so she's going to go crash her car! And - she just now called and wanted to know if I love making her feel bad about herself.
Now for the philosophical part! On Easter Sunday it had been raining all day. At around 500 I looked outside and there was a beautiful rainbow in the sky. Bright, brilliant colors! It made me remember the verse from a song that goes something like - He made us a promise and wrapped it up in a rainbow. I felt like he was telling me that there was new beginnings around the corner. I had thought that meant that L was going to get better and then all this stuff happened. Today I realized that it was telling me that there was a new beginning out there for me. I have my house back and it's time for me to start living my life.
Onward and Upward!

A Tragic Tale
Hey Dear Readers . . . . I know you have been missing it . . . . . . . . . .back by popular demand . . . . . . . . . L Drama!!!!! Sit back and enjoy . . . . . . . . . save your gasps of disbelief for the end!
I am in the habit of checking my credit card activity online about 2 or 3 times a week - I am paranoid about fraud and identity theft. Today I went online to look at the activity and there was a charge on there that I did not recognize. Now - it was from a store that I have purchased items from before but I did not recognize the amount of the charge. I gave them a call - they checked my account with them and they didn't see that charge being associated with my account. I called my bank next and submitted a dispute with them regarding this charge - they will put in the process to research the items and hopefully credit it back to my card. After all this there was a nagging little voice in the back of my head that started out rather quiet but throughout the day kept getting louder and louder - you see, this charge was from T-Mobile and when I spoke with them they informed me that it had been made via their Voice Response System - aka a phone payment. This voice was asking - is this just a coincidence that L has an account with them and my credit card number was used to make a payment over the phone. The whole way home I kept saying - please be a coincidence - please be a coincidence. When I got home L's current T-Mobile statement was sitting on the table - I opened it - the amount that was owed on it was the exact amount that had been charged to my card!! Now you can gasp in disbelief!! That little thief stole my credit card number and used it to pay her $272.81 phone bill so that her service wouldn't be turned off!!
We have spoken on the phone - she called to let me know she was staying at Justin's house tonight and wouldn't be home - I told her that was a good idea because I was too pissed for her to be home right now.
How Come?! Because your phone bill was paid with my credit card! What?!? I don't know what you're talking about! I tried to pay my bill with my debit card and it didn't work. How would I have gotten your credit card number. The amount charged to my card is the exact amount of your current bill. I didn't do anything. Well, then I need to call the cops because someone has stolen my account number. You don't need to do that. Are you admitting that you were the one to do it. yes. What happened the last time you stole from me? You kicked me out. Yeah - I think you need to leave. No, No - where will I go! Can't we talk about it. I'll pay you back!! L, you are overdrawn on your bank account by $300+ how would you be able to pay me back! What did you think was going to happen? Did you think I wouldn't notice the charge on my statement?
More attempts at negotiating and trying to make me feel bad followed. I am still in shock! She really will do anything to keep her phone. It's all about her - no thoughts of anyone else - no thinking about any repercussions for her actions. I feel so violated!!

Hmmmm . . . . . . Can you still call it Spring Cleaning if it doesn't really feel like Spring outside? It was cloudy, cold, and a little rainy today . . . . I guess that's Spring in Washington. I still opened up the windows to let some fresh air flow through the house. The kitchen looks wonderful! Scrubbed it down . . did all the dishes - including the absolutely disgusting ones I pulled out of L's room. I caught up on my recorded TV Shows - I wouldn't skip through the commercials - I did chores during them.
L came home today - she is eating me out of house and home - she cooked up so much food - and while things were cooking she would be eating other stuff . . . . hmm . . sounds like the munchies to me. Of course she denied that but she is in her room right now talking on the phone with one of her friends - she has a very loud voice - and I just overheard her relaying the story and admitting that - - yup she was stoned and had the munchies. She really thinks I'm stupid. I also just heard her say - "My room smells like dirty feet . . . it smells like old food, garbage, and drugs!" I guess things haven't really changed - she's back in my house - doing things she shouldn't be doing - thinking I'm naive and stupid. Now I just need to figure out how to get control of my house again.

Hi!!
Friday was a really great day! I did some Spring Cleaning at work - got my desk organized and wiped down - side note, you really need to wipe under the keyboard, lots of dust and crumbs and I found a missing pen! Lots of dust behind the hard drive too. I swiffered it all away and wiped the desk down with a clorox wipe - kill the icky germs. It was out intern Arshya's last day yesterday so we went out to lunch - Steelhead Diner down by Pike Place Market - really really good! I am not a fish lover but I had their Fish and Chips - Incredible! Big pieces of fish and they tasted great. Next time Colleen is in town we def have to go there - she loves Fish and Chips and can't get good ones down in Texas. I caught the 335 bus home - took care of Muppet - and then headed out to see Lyd.
Lyd and I went to a Cookie Lee jewelry party at one of her co-workers house. It was a lot of fun. The jewelry was reasonably priced and if you any of the pieces you want to by are actually at the party on display you get to bring them home that night - Instant Gratification! I got a bracelet and a necklace and got to bring them home. Lyd was surprised I bought some because I make my own jewelry - the items I got were ones that I couldn't recreate at home. We got back to Lyd's house at 10.
I stopped at QFC to pick up some milk so I could have cereal this morning for breakfast - while I was there I picked up a few more things. I have never done grocery shopping at 1100 before. The shelves are a little bare - they do the restocking when no one is around - and when it's time to check out you have to walk around looking for someone to come up to the registers.
Today I am Spring Cleaning! I opened up windows and the back slider to air the house out and I just pulled a bunch of really gross dishes out of L's room. First job will be the kitchen! Second job will be laundry!

**Relaxing Sigh**
I am full, relaxed, and content!
I went to dinner tonight at Mongolian Grill - yup, the place that L works now. She had to stay until 6 tonight instead of 4 so I went there after work. It was really busy when I got there - L was working so hard - multi-tasking, being polite - it was so nice to see. I had my meal there - sat at a table where I could see L - she came out and sat with me for a bit when things slowed down. Her boss is really relaxed - they don't have a set break time - if there are no customers she can talk on the phone, text, come out and sit with her old Mom! She must be doing well because they called her in to work tomorrow night form 4 - 9:30. She wasn't happy about that but I reminder her it was more money and she usually doesn't go out to do things with friends until 10 anyways. I really think she has found something she is good at.
The Quarter is closed and the auditors don't come in until next week - time to take a breath and relax. I completed the one thing at work that I hate doing and tend to put off - reconciling the credit card statements to the receipts I've received. I worked on it most of yesterday and today - I am finally caught up! Tomorrow I just need to file somethings away - I provided the names of the 5 people that seem to have a hard time getting me their receipts to my boss - we'll see what happens. It just feels so nice to have accomplished something that needed to be done! It was like Spring Cleaning - which I am going to continue tomorrow by cleaning things off my desk and wiping everything down. Time to start the new Quarter with a clean plate.
I hope this "Spring Cleaning" mood follows me in to the weekend - my house could really use a good cleaning.

Mechanics
Crooked – Slimy – Underhanded – All of these describe Mechanics! I personally have never had an issue with any of the mechanics that worked on my cars - I usually go to the dealership to get the work done though and they are very up front about the cost because they want you to return and buy more cars from them. Mechanics that work out of gas stations though are exactly what the stereotype says about them. At least the ones at the Shell on Klahanie Blvd.
Refresh your memory a bit – when L had her car stolen she purchased a cheap car off of Craigslist. This car worked fine for a couple weeks but then started making a grinding noise. She brought it to the guys at the Shell Station to have them look at it and let her know what was wrong and what needed to be done. She chose them because they were within walking distance of the daycare she was working at. L says they called her and told her what needed to be fixed and told her it would be around $675. They also told her she couldn’t drive the car because it was too dangerous. She told them that yes she wanted it fixed but she needed to talk to me first because she couldn’t afford it. She called them back and said that we wanted it fixed and she was told they couldn’t do it until Thursday and she said fine and scheduled it for Thursday. Wednesday L got the call that her other car had been found! She called the Shell Station and spoke with Brad the manager and told him to cancel her appointment – she didn’t need the work done because her other car was found. Brad said OK.
Jump ahead to yesterday – L got a call from Brad telling her she needed to come and get her car and settle the bill for $680!! They had gone ahead and done the work! L never signed a quote – never signed anything saying to do the work. We went to talk to them last night. Of course – Brad the Manager had already left for the day and was going on vacation – be back sometime next week. Dave – the guy who did the work on L’s car came out to talk to us. L told them she never said to do the work and that she had cancelled the appointment – Dave said they had started the work the day she brought the car in! She said she was told the work wouldn’t be done until the Thursday and he said – No, as soon as she said she wanted the work done they started it. I asked if she had signed anything and he said that in the State of Washington he doesn’t need a signature and that a verbal OK is binding. He wouldn’t give on the part that L was under the impression they weren’t doing the work until her appointment. Basically being an Ass and acting like – not his fault the naive 19 year old didn’t understand that the work was being started. We asked – why didn’t Brad say something then when L called and cancelled the appointment – He never said that the work was already started – and they never called to tell her that the work was complete and what the final bill was. She never got a dollar amount until they called yesterday threatening to take her to collections. I figure they saw her coming – naive 19 year old girl.
I will never go to the Klahanie Shell Station again - I will fill up with gas elsewhere - Dave the Mechanic is an Ass – I urge any of my readers that live in the area to boycott them as well.
Bottom line – we are waiting until Brad the Manager gets back next week. Any suggestions on how we should handle this?

Not Much
Sunshine!!
Not much else to say! It's just been amazing to see the sun - I will enjoy it tomorrow and then the rain will return on Wednesday. It was a nice Spring wasn't it!
I haven't written much - when I get home from work these days I am just too brain dead to write. Quarter End does that to you. The push to get the Quarter closed in 5 days turns my brain to mush :P
I am baking banana bread right now and then I am heading to bed.

Today on Cooking with De . . . . .
Tomorrow is April's Birthday so I am making Tiramisu Brownies!! Brownie bottom - layer of creamy, whipped coffee flavor mixture with crushed cookies - cool whip and grated chocolate!! Are ya hungry!! The brownies are done and cooling - I've made the creamy mixture and put it in the fridge - I will get up tomorrow and put it all together for work! I know that not everyone likes coffee flavored treats so I made a second batch without the coffee flavoring. I am going to start baking birthday treats for the Finance Group this year - a nice change from the regular treats we get and it gives me a chance to bake up some new things.
It is quarter end time again - means the year is 1/4 over - that went fast! Things are going a little smoother than I thought. There have been personnel changes - duty changes - and due date changes. A lot of new things to be worrying about.
Tomorrow is Friday and I am looking forward to spending the first weekend in a long time feeling healthy - keep your fingers crossed! I tried some real food today - chicken! Yum Yum!! I just couldn't face another day of just B.R.A.T. - I needed flavor!! So far so good - I'm not feeling too icky - still not ready to try a lot of dairy - which means I haven't had my Starbucks favorite in 2 weeks!! I miss you Venti-Non Fat -Lite Whip-Extra Hot-2 Pump-Hot Chocolate!!
