Shoes

Yay for Friday!!  Well - for me it is Friday!  There is something about a long weekend with no big plans that takes the weight off my shoulders!  I hope to finally get my home life back on track and organized!  I am also going to take care of a few things such as an eye appointment on Saturday and taking Nikki to the vets on Friday - There has to be something they can give her to control the wheezing and sneezing.  She's been seen by Dr Hougham before - but seeing as I blame him for not realizing the extent of Muppet's illness and causing her to die an early death - I am going to have Dr Brar take a look at her and see what he has to say.  Friday I am also meeting a friend from church for a Jamba Break and then I have a hair appointment with Bonnie.  So I guess it's not totally a weekend with no plans - but it will be relaxing!

Yesterday I wore some new shoes to work - a cute pair of grey boots with a bit of a heel.  I found them on the Payless Shoe website when I was looking for a new pair of shoes for church - you see, Chrissy thought my black flats looked good enough to eat . . . . . . . so she did . . . . . . . ate the back of the shoe right off!  So anyways - Payless was having a BOGO 1/2 off sale and I found these cute boots.  I'm not used to wearing heels anymore and so by the end of the day my feet were hurting a bit.  My heel tolerance seems to have gone down the older I've gotten - back in my 20s I had a killer pair of red pumps - 3 inch heel - loved them!  In my 30s I went down to about a 1 - 1 1/2 inch heel - looked nice with a skirt but didn't hurt the feet.  Now that I'm in my 40s and the dress code at the office is very casual I wear flats - mostly tennis shoes.  I thought the boots were soooo cute though - and would go with my jeans - and they did look really good.  Next time I wear them - I will not walk a couple blocks to get lunch - for some reason - walking on the sidewalk made my feet hurt more than walking around the office.  Beauty is Pain!

OK - time for bed

My Life Is . . . . .

Wow - I really suck at keeping up on this.  I have every intention of writing when I get home - but sitting and doing nothing always seems to sound better once I get home.  I do have a great L story to tell though so I am motivated to get this down!

On Friday afternoon I got a phone call from L - she was all in a panic - telling me she needed me to do her a really big favor - she wasn't getting paid until Wednesday - but she really needed me to help her out - she would pay me back when she got paid!  My interest was piqued - so without saying yes or no I asked what happened - definitely expecting it to be something interesting!  She asked me what time I was getting off work and could I bring her to Target - she needed to borrow some money to get a new phone . . . . . . . uh why?!?  She dropped hers down the sewer!!!!!  OMG!!!  Who does that!!  How does someone do that?!?  Her and a friend at work were out having a smoke during their break - she thought she had put her phone in her pocket - opened her legs to stand up - the phone was in her lap - it fell right through the sewer grate - 5 ft down - splash into the water!!!  To her it was a matter of life or death!  It amazes me that someone who considers their phone their lifeline - would have so many problems keeping track of it.  She has left it places, dropped it, and now sent it down the river - to the lake - to the slew - to the ocean!  When I picked her up from work she was so upset - can't believe this day - can't believe this happened - I have nobody's numbers - I bet people have been trying to get a hold of me all day - they've probably sent texts that I will never get . . . . . . . . . . My Life Is In The Gutter!!  I of course couldn't resist saying "Literally!"  I laughed so hard - she did too.

She now has a new phone - she gets paid on Wednesday - I get paid on Wednesday.

Divine Interruptions

Not sure what was up this morning - but on my way in to work I passed 3 separate accidents on I90. They were all moved over to the side of the road and tow trucks were there - one involved 4 cars that I could see. I think there was some divine interruption going on with me this morning - kept me from being on the road when the accidents happened. I always say a quick prayer of thanks when this happens.

I had an appt today so I got to leave work early - yay me! The appt was over at 515 and I was so excited to see that it was still light out! I have so missed that! Still wintery though because it gets dark so fast. I am so ready for more daylight.

I almost got run off the road by an old man driving a very large sedan - back in college we called that size of car a boat and the parking area at the sorority was the Sigma Kappa Harbor! Anyways - I was on my way home and had just exited I90 at Front Street and was in the right lane where it splits off into the right turn only lane to head up the plateau hill - I moved over to the far right and was moving along when this old man in the boat decides he needs to be in my lane and just starts moving over - no signal - no looking for other cars - I slammed on my brakes and laid on the horn - he never flinched or slowed down. We both turned right up the hill - I pulled up next to him - he was gripping the steering wheel with both hands - a cigarette in one - staring straight ahead and going about 10 mph. Really - people like that should just not be on the road.

OK - bedtime. Need to try and get to work early - having dinner at a friends house tomorrow night so I want to get out of Seattle at a decent hour.

He's Listening

I have been having a difficult time lately trying to balance everything going on. I also have been filled with the green-eyed monster due to the nature of my job and seeing what others are getting and wondering why I’m not getting the same. I have prayed for help and guidance and this past Sunday in Relief Society the talk was on balancing the many things we as women have on our plates – learning that some of the things can drop without the world coming to an end. And the song we sang was the one below. God may not answer your prayers in the way you were hoping – like a huge windfall! But he does listen – he guides you – and he sends messages that he understands and has heard you.

When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings; name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings; ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.

When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you his wealth untold.
Count your many blessings; money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven nor your home on high.

So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged; God is over all.
Count your many blessings; angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

Chrissy The Annoying One

Nom Nom Nom!!
How long do the annoying Toddler Years last for puppies!!  Chrissy has been such a pest lately! Digging in garbage - barking at everything - eating paper - peeing on my clean sheets - eating my shoes - eating furniture!!!  Yes - those last two just started!  Last night I was dipping cake balls in chocolate when I looked out in to the living room to see what Miss Chris was up to and she had gotten my Sunday shoes from the bedroom and was eating them!!  I wasn't quick enough realizing what she was up too and she ate the back off of one shoe!  Last weekend I heard a noise and looked down to find her eating the leg of a TV Tray Table . . . . . and one of her toys sitting right there!

I thought maybe she just needed a rawhide to chew on because she was bored with stuffed toys so I gave her one and she buried it in my bed.  Gave her a different one with Peanut Butter in it and she buried it in the couch.  Ooh - she just jumped up on the couch to get the Peanut Butter one - maybe she's ready to chew it up. . . . . . . . . . . Nope . . . . . . . she just ran down the hall with it in her mouth - I'm guessing it's on its way to being hidden under my covers. . . . . . Now she's back out here in the living room with it - went over by the front door - now she's back down the hall.  I guess as long as she's entertained looking for hiding spots it will keep her from eating the house. . . . . . . Any guesses on where this is going to end up.  Aw Crap - took my eyes off her for a few minutes and now she's up on the couch with me - no peanut butter rawhide!!

Sometimes she acts like a dog and other times I think she thinks she's a cat!  She was "perched" on the couch with her butt near my shoulder watching me on the computer.  All of a sudden she put her nose right on the screen - I wasn't sure what she was doing until I moved the cursor a bit and she followed it with her nose and tried to catch it with her tongue!  I started to move it quickly back and forth and her head was all twitchy - going back and forth - trying to catch it - just like my cats do when I flash a light back and forth.  She is a funny funny girl.

So . . . . back to the original question . . . . . How long are the Toddler Years of a Puppy!!

And Over The Hump To The Weekend

I got off work at a decent hour tonight but still didn't get home until almost 800 - did my "volunteer" work of taking the poor to the grocery store to do there shopping!  Yup - 2nd of the month means L's EBT card gets replenished with her Food money and it's time to go do some shopping.  I was actually quite proud of her - she was prepared with a list - stuck to the list - bought generic brands - a very good shopper that only used half of her money.  There were a few items she couldn't get because there was a power outage at the Albertson's and they were running on generator power so they had all of the frozen and refrigerator items closed up tight to try and keep them from spoiling.  Not sure why the power was out but when we left the store we could see flashing lights of a fire truck over by the Pizza Hut.

So after that excursion I ended up not getting home until 800.  I am baking cakes right now in preparation of making Cake Balls for our Finance Super Bowl Tailgate Party on Friday.  I found an Orange Supreme cake mix at the Albertsons so I am going to try and make a batch of Orange/Chocolate Cake Balls and then I will also make a batch of Chocolate/Chocolate Cake Balls.  I have both cakes in the oven right now - then they need to cool off a bit - then I mix them with frosting and put them in the refrigerator over night.  Tomorrow I will make them in to balls and then dip them in chocolate.  Hope they turn out.

Kathi Goertzen from KOMO went in to surgery today. Below is a piece that KOMO put together with Kathi as she wanted to share with everyone what has been going on.

I Hope That Light Isn't A Train . . . .

Got home tonight a little before 800 - walked into a house that smelled of wonderful cooking chicken!  I placed a chicken in the crock pot this morning.  You know what - when you cook a chicken in a crock pot for 10 hours the meet just falls off the bones - it looked kinda funny when I took the lid off - it was like it had completely deflated - flat chicky!  It tasted really good.

Chrissy has not been happy about my late nights - poor thing is tired of being in the kitchen all day and then not getting much play time when I get home.  This morning when it was time for me to head off to work she went and hid in her crate - she so did not want to be in the kitchen.  Tonight she was so happy when I got home.  Hopefully I will be back on a regular schedule soon - although I'm not even sure I remember what a regular schedule is!

I have my PC Laptop up an running - I can connect to the internet in my bedroom with this laptop - still not sure why the Mac won't connect - oh well - as long as one of them does I am a happy camper.

KOMO 4's Kathi Goertzen is battling her brain tumor yet again.  She goes into surgery tomorrow - keep her in your prayers.
