Having a puppy is just like having a baby - when they learn something new you get excited - when they do something cute you laugh - when they aren't feeling well you feel helpless. Chrissy was not feeling well during the night last night. I was woken up at midnight last night to the most nasty smell - Chrissy had diarrhea in her crate - she had moved her bedding out of the way so at least clean up was fairly easy - took the top off the crate and rinsed it out in the tub. I then rinsed off the pup in the sink - grabbed a beach towel to use for her bed and put the crate all back together. We both went back to sleep - until 500 when I woke up to her crying in her crate. I got up with her - pulled on some sweats and took her outside - where she had more diarrhea and also threw up. Poor baby must have eaten something that did not sit well in her belly at all. She went back to sleep in her crate until 900. She hasn't been sick since and has been acting like a normal hyper pup - hopefully whatever she ate has made it's way through her system. She is now curled up in her crate sound asleep - and just like a baby she needs me in the room so she can sleep. I put her in the crate and went out to the living room to close up - she started barking and whining - she stopped as soon as I got on the bed and she fluffed up her towel and is now sound asleep.
L has been away from the house all day - she went in to Seattle to meet up with some friends and hangout - she texted me around 3 letting me know she was going to stay at Bri's house tonight. Do I believe that - not really. I'm sure she is with Bri but I have no delusions of her having a "sleepover" at Bri's house. I'm sure she is doing things I do not want to know about. It did make it nice and relaxing around here!
Plan is to try and get some chores done tomorrow. I have found that I have a hard time doing chores because I am always wondering what Chrissy is getting in to - she loves to chew on everything! I need a Puppy Bjorn so I can just carry her around and do my chores!
Good Night ~

It's Chrissy
I'm 6 months old today! What a life I have had so far - I've lived in a kennel - gone on car rides - been on a plane - gone from warm Texas to rainy Washington! What I remember most about Texas is it was warm and for one day I got to be in a house with my new friends Kara, Bailey, Emma, Lexi, and Tess - Tess and Lexi didn't really like me that much but that was OK - Miss Kara took me under her paw and showed me where the toys were. After my day there I went on a plane ride and landed in this cold place they call Washington. I have been here for over a month now and I think I like it!
I like Buffy and Niki - Buffy plays with me and has taught me how to jump up on top of my crate, up and over the couch, up and over the baby gates, and up on to the bed - i like jumping! Buffy and I like to chase each other - wrestle and growl. Niki doesn't play with me much but she has started to come close and let me lick her face.
I like to go on walks - We first go to this one patch of grass and Mom says go potty then says Good Chrissy! We then walk down to the other end of the building and I like to sniff around Muppet's favorite bush. This morning when we went for a walk I found the most interesting smell - I buried my nose in it and loved it so much that I rolled around where the smell was and rubbed my back and face in it. Mom went "Ewwww - Chrissy No!" I just looked at her with my "what" face. I don't understand why she didn't like the wonderful smell and the goeyness of the dead slug! When we got inside I had to have a quick bath - I don't see the difference between a regular bath and a quick bath - either way I get wet in the sink, soaped up, and wet again. I look like a drowned rat when I'm wet - you can't really see my fur you just see my skin - yuck!
I used to have to stay in the kitchen all day when Mom went to work - she has put together quite the contraption to keep me in there - I will figure out how to get out though one of these days! Anyways - the last couple of days Sissy has let me out in the afternoon to go for a walk and run around the house - Mom says it nice cuz then I'm not "hyper" when she gets home - I'm not hyper - I just get puppycited!!
I have a basket full of toys - every night Mom and Sissy put the toys in the basket and I take them back out! I just like to make sure they're all still there! May favorite toy is squirrly - I carry her around and hide her in safe places - sometimes I forget where and Mom finds them when she moves things!!
I heard Mom say TGIF! That means I don't have to go in the kitchen tomorrow! Yay!! I wonder what we'll do tomorrow! I hope we get to go out the sliding glass door. Mom took me out there last night after Sissy finished putting up chicken wire - they said it was so I wouldn't slip through the railings and fall to the ground. There were some cool smells out there - the cats go out there - and Mom sits out there too. That's pretty cool!
It's getting close to my bed time - I need to start rounding up Mom and letting her know we need to go to the bedroom. I don't sleep in the bed with Mom I like to sleep in my crate - it's like being in my own little room. Besides - the cats kinda take up a lot of room on that bed! I don't want to share my sleeping space with the cats.

Dentist
This morning I got to go to the one place everybody loves . . . . . . the Dentist!! Don't we all just love going there. I went in to have a crown replaced . . tooth #5 on the upper right . . last year when I went in for another tooth issue Dr Brandon said that the #5 tooth was next on the list because there was some decay under the crown there and we didn't want it to turn into a tooth extraction like the one I was in there to see him about. So I decided to go in and have that work done. I get settled in the chair - the dental assistant puts the numbing gel by the tooth and we wait. When Dr Brandon got there and took a look he seemed puzzled . . he looked at my tooth . . looked at the x-rays that they took last time . . went back to the tooth. . they discussed his notes from the last appointment. He couldn't figure out why that tooth was at the top of the list!! He didn't see anything wrong with it!! He had a new set of x-rays taken and then made the decision that they should actually work on a different tooth that was suddenly so bad it was moved to the top of the list. OK . .What?!?! The tooth they decided was suddenly urgent has been on the list for 3 years and was always at the bottom . . once I had other issues taken care of we would get to that tooth . . . how is it that it was suddenly so bad . . how is it that the tooth that was on the top of the list was suddenly OK. I am confused! Was there ever anything wrong with the front right? Or were they just trying to get my money? I had just gone through a very painful tooth extraction when they said I needed to get the upper right one taken care of right away or else it would end up just like that one. A year later . . . . . nothing wrong with it?!?!
Well, they went ahead and worked on the other tooth - the back molar on the lower right. That is a very tough tooth to get to. The Novocaine shots were horrible - They had to put Novocaine in the gums around the tooth, under the tongue, and then in the hinge of my jaw . . . that one felt like it was reaching all the way through and in to my ear canal!! I thought I was going to scream . . . . when he was done I had tears rolling out of my eyes and down the side of my face. I haven't pain like that before. The rest of the process wasn't too bad - i couldn't feel the drilling - the worst part (after the shots) was Dr Brandon trying to reach the back of the tooth - my mouth was open so wide and they had to keep pulling my tongue out of the way.
Once I was done at the dentist it was time to head back to work. My tongue felt like it was three inches thick! When the Novocaine started to wear off I became painfully aware that I had bitten my tongue! Owwwww!!! I took 4 ibuprofen earlier and I just now took a vicodin . . . . man I hope it works! Very Very painful right now!!
OK - I'm going to go take Chrissy out for a short walk. Oh . . and my Neapolitan Cake was a hit at work today! :-)

I Have Internet
Wow - 2nd night in a row that my Internet is actually working!! Knock on wood!
Today was a very interesting day - a member of our lunch crew is at Swedish Hospital this week for some testing so we decided to take a field trip and go visit him. This required taking the #3 bus - we had to pick it up on 3rd & Pine which is kitty corner from the Gangland McDonalds - as the bus travelled down 3rd we picked up more and more interesting people - some of which really needed to take a shower! I have been very sheltered in my bus experiences - the commuter bus from the Plateau doesn't really let you see the different parts of the Seattle culture - the inner city routes really give you a different perspective. We made it to Swedish Cherry Hill and found our way to R's room. He is there so they can monitor him as they try to induce his seizures so they can map which parts of his brain are affected - this is a precursor to him having brain surgery. They are trying to induce it by sleep deprivation - he is only allowed 4 hours of sleep a night. Someone from his family has to be there to monitor him and make sure he doesn't sleep. When we visited he hadn't yet had a seizure - which wasn't good. Tonight though - he posted on his facebook that he had a Grand Mal seizure. Not sure if this means he can sleep now or not. Hopefully he gets some good drugs too 'cuz he posted that he pulled a muscle in his back during the seizure and it hurts to breathe.
I came home tonight to a clean kitchen! Thank You L!! I asked her to clean it for me because I needed to come home and bake a cake tonight. She really stepped it up - the kitchen looked spectacular! I was able to have room to do my baking. New Recipe - Neapolitan Pound Cake! I hope it turns out! I always worry when I make something for the first time - I would hate for it to turn out nasty and have people spitting it out! L asked if we could just take a small slice out of it tonight to taste and make sure it tastes OK. We might just have to do that. I will let you know how it turned out.

Can We Call It A Week
Oh Mylanta! This has been a day. I missed my bus this morning . . . . . I forgot to put the pork loin in the crock pot . . . . . My Kindle battery died . . . . . . a quick trip to pick L up from E's turned into a 2 hour long ordeal so I didn't get home until 9! Poor little Chrissy had been in the kitchen since 8 this morning.
I certainly couldn't go to bed as soon as I got home because Chrissy needed to go outside and then run around - burn off some puppy energy. So now I am up past my bedtime - hope I don't oversleep and miss my bus again tomorrow!
I am still having major Internet issues - I think it has to do with L being plugged directly in to the router . . . it works fine for awhile but when she is playing WOW it will keep kicking me off - which gets frustrating because the way I unwind when I get home is to surf the net a little and play some games. She is out with a friend right now so I am able to be on with no issues!
L had an interview today . . . . keep your fingers crossed . . . . would be nice for her to get a steady job.
OK - while I'm thinking about it I am going to go find the charger for my Kindle and get it plugged in so I can read on the bus tomorrow.

Curls, L, and a Current Event
Curls . . . . . I have curls!!!!! Yup - got a perm yesterday. My regular stylist couldn't do - Bonnie is pregnant and just couldn't handle the smell right now - so she sent me to her friend Jan. Bonnie gave Jan the perm she usually uses on me and told her which color rods to use. Bonnie's not a fan of me wearing my hair curly so she usually will just give me bigger curls for body - but . . . seeing as she wasn't doing it I was able to get Jan to give me smaller curls!! Yay!! I can scrunch and go on those mornings that I just want to sleep for 15 more minutes!! I am a happy happy camper!
L seems to be doing better today . . . . she got a voicemail from her Uncle Chris and a call from her dad. They both explained to her what happened . . . . she let them know that she wasn't mad about them not getting her a ticket to NC . . she was mad that no one had called her and let her know what was going on. Apparently Chris thought Alan was talking to L and Alan thought Chris was . . . . great communication skills all around! :-P
Now - the topic I was going to write about before the L situation came up . . . . not sure how many of you have seen this on the news but a week ago there was another altercation involving the Seattle Police Department. In an area where jaywalking is a huge problem there was a policeman who was ticketing people . . . . one girl started resisting and so was getting arrested . . .her friend decided she needed to step in and started pushing the policeman, grabbing his arm, and trying to get him away from her friend. The cop ended up punching the girl in the face and then arresting her. Of course, someone got the whole thing on video and sold it to a news station - King 5 - who only showed the portion of the video that had the cop punching the girl. The headline was . . . Cop Punches Girl . . . . nothing about the girls resisting arrest or pushing around the cop trying to get in the way of him doing his job. Most of the discussion was about whether the cop should have hit a girl . . . . you've got to be kidding me! If someone is resisting arrest or getting in the way of a cop doing his job then the cop should be able to do whatever is necessary - no matter whether the person is a guy or a gal. A day or so later the conversation turned to it being racist . . yes . . the cop was white and the girls were black. This of course became the topic once the video went viral . . . the Today Show, Good Morning America, and The Early Show all had people on to talk about it . . . no one talked about what the girls had done they all were ready to string up the cop for hitting a girl . . then the Rev Al Sharpton got involved saying that it never would have happened if the girls were white. I have come to the conclusion that Al Sharpton thinks everything is race related . . . if it wasn't he would be out of a job . . no one would ever have him on TV to talk about these situations. If you look at the polls in the local media most everyone believes the cop was justified and this had nothing to do with race. So where is Sharpton getting his information . . I don't think he even came out this way and talked to anyone involved in the skirmish . . he just saw the few seconds of video that were on the TV and jumped to conclusions that would get him on TV. I get so fed up with everything being turned in to a race issue . . . . isn't thinking that a white cop would only be aggressive towards a black person racist?
I believe that the cop was justified, that it shouldn't matter that the person resisting arrest was a girl, and that race had nothing to do with it.

They've Done It Again
My heart is hurting for L. The H side of her family has done it again. Months and Months ago her Uncle Chris had told her he would get her a ticket to fly out to NC this summer so she could visit with them again – he brought her out last year for Alyssa’s wedding. He even brought it up again to her when she took her brief detour to MN asking if that move meant she wouldn’t be coming out to see them this summer. So she spoke with him a few months back and they decided that she should come out over Father’s Day weekend because that was when her Dad was going to be there on his vacation. L was very excited – if it wasn’t for her Uncle Chris she would never get to see her Dad.
A couple months went by and she didn’t hear anything – she left messages for Chris with no call back. She spoke with her Dad and he said he would call Chris and find out what was going on. They told her that Chris was looking for flight times and process and they would let her know what they found and when she would be flying out. That was the last she heard from them.
She is having a very hard/sad day today because this is when she should have been there. She knows that her Dad is there with his other family and she’s not being included. She is just really upset and doesn’t understand why they ignore her calls and didn’t just tell her what was going on. She feels like they didn’t want her there and that she’s not a part of the family.
I don’t understand how someone can do that either. How do you treat your child like that? What goes through your head when you make the decision to not include her in the family vacation? Why would you even tell her that you were working on getting the ticket for her to come if you had no intention of following through on it?
My suspicion about what is going on here is this – as y’all know L’s step-mother Randi does not like her at all – come on woman, it’s been over 18 years aren’t you tired from carrying this grudge around with you. Anyways – I think she didn’t want L there for her family’s vacation so she called her sister Gerri – who is L’s Aunt Gerri – and got all upset and acted like a spoiled brat and told Gerri how L was going to ruin their family time and how she doesn’t like her and doesn’t want her there - got Gerri to convince Chris not to get L a ticket. Chris – being a nice guy just didn’t know how to tell L that he had to back out of what he had promised her so that would be why he’s not returning her calls.
What do I have to say about this if my suspicions are correct! How Dare You Treat L Like This. She’s A Part of Your Family!! Grow Up People!!!!!
