Stupid Internet

I have been having so many issues with my Internet this week!!  It keeps dropping connections!  I thought it might be the wireless router but then L started having problems this evening and she is plugged directly in to the Internet.  So that is the reason I haven't written this week - I know - excuses excuses!!

I was trying to decide if I should just write a couple entries a day to catch up or just do bullet points in this one - that is if I can remember everything I was going to write about this week . . . . . . . damn Internet! :-P

  • Saturday when I was running errands with L we went to Subway for lunch - I got a Tuna sandwich.  I ate the first half and then saved the rest for dinner - I didn't put it in the fridge though I just had it sitting by my purse in the living room.  Sunday I discovered why you shouldn't do that!  First experience with sitting on the toilet and needing to also have something to throw up in.  Fun Times in the Boyd Household!
  • Monday when I got home from work I took Chrissy out for our regular walk.  She was a little more energetic - I figured it was because she had been so dopey over the weekend.  We walked up and around Challenger and then headed back.  Here is the order of how thing happened: Chrissy sees something she wants - Chrissy takes off running at full speed - Leash flies from my hand - I go from a casual walk to a full on sprint trying to catch her - Chrissy runs by a car - Young man stops his car and goes running after Chrissy - Chrissy turns into driveway that leads to our condos - Young man comes back with Chrissy in hand - I am barely able to get the words Thank You out.  Luckily I did not have a heart attack!
  • Tuesday after work I went to the musical 42nd Street with Auntie Jan down at the Issaquah Village Theater.  Auntie Jan has season tickets with her friend Lorena but her friend couldn't make it to this show so I was invited.  I had so much fun!!!  I had never seen 42nd Street before and didn't even really know what it was about.  I was amazed to find out that I knew 3 of the songs from the show just form hearing them other places.  I might contemplate getting season tickets for myself next year or at least getting tickets for single shows.  I really had a good time - so much fun!!
  • Wednesday/Thursday - not a whole lot.  Either still feeling the effects of the Tuna Sandwich or else I am coming down with something.  Tummy troubles, headache, feeling dizzy!!  I feel like I tied one on without actually getting the enjoyment of the beverage.
The new season of SYTYCD started yesterday - well it was the first show with the final 11 dancers.  It is a different format this year.  Instead of 10 guys and 10 girls being paired up and learning new dances and styles they have 11 total dancers who get paired up with All Stars and learn a dance in that persons style.  I wasn't so sure I was going to like it but it was a lot of fun watching it last night.  My favorite dancer Mark was back as well as Pasha and Neil!  Tonight was the first results show.  Only one person would be going home - no longer 1 guy and 1 gal.  3 gals ended up being in the bottom three.  I didn't agree with the judges choice of who to send home . . . . . . SPOILER ALERT!!!!!  Not s surprise that the person I felt should go home didn't . . . .her style of dance is Tap and we all know how Nigel loves the Tap Dancers!!  He keeps them in way longer than they should be allowed to stay.  The person who ended up going home was Alexie . . . . she had tried out 3 times - last season making it to the final 20 girls but not getting chosen to be on the show.  She kept coming back So Sad.  Oh - and another change on the show this year is that Mary Murphy is no longer a judge.  They replaced her with Mia Michaels - not a big fan of that change.

I think I touched on just about everything.  I want to write about the police issue that has been in the news but I need that to be the only topic - so I will open the discussion about that tomorrow.

Nice Sunny Day

Oh what a day!  Started out beautifully - nice blue sky - sun shining!  Took Chrissy out for a quick morning walk and then a quick trip to the vet to get a shot.  This shot - vaccine for Leptospirosis - needed to be given to her in the morning just in case she had a reaction - which doesn't happen very often but Dr Brar likes to be careful with small dogs.  So we got to the vets - the tech brought her back - gave her the shot - and we headed home.  Now the vet's office is only a mile away so it doesn't take long to get home - within that short amount of time Miss Chrissy turned into a limp rag doll!  I got home - called the vet - turned right back around!  They decided they needed to keep her for the day and keep an eye on her.  She looked so much and acted so much like Muppet did on her last day that I panicked - that stupid shot better not have broken my dog!!

I got home and it was time to take L into Bellevue for her BC Shot at Planned Parenthood and then to take her over to where E is living - he has the next 2 days off so they will hangout together there and i get the house to myself for the weekend.  I was thinking that when I got home I would do some chores around the house until I could go get Chrissy - but by the time I got home I had a full blown migraine - I'm sure from the stress.  So I took a nap.  I got a call from the vet at 330 and they said she was doing fine and I could come get her at 530.  When I picked her up she seemed so much better - they had given her some Benedryl to counter act her reaction.  Dr Brar said that when we do her booster shot she will just need to stay there for the day so they can keep an eye on her.  I got her home - she seemed fine - went into the kitchen and had some water and food.  She then started to act a little weird - then threw up everything she had just eaten.  Not a pretty site.  Of course - by the time she did that the vets office was closed so I am going to just keep an eye on her.  She played a bit with Buffy - now she is in her crate sound asleep.  Hopefully tomorrow is a better day.

Of course - being in Washington - it will probably rain tomorrow - the one nice day we've had in months and I spent it napping.  Oh well, hopefully that wasn't our summer!

Puppy Steps

Life with a young pup has definitely been a journey!  There are ups and downs - new tricks - training both her and me. . . . That is how the Blog I wrote last night started out . . . I know - you're probably saying "What Blog - I didn't see no stinkin' Blog" - well that would be because just as I went to Publish the blog my Internet kicked me out - when I logged back in it was only to find that the only thing it had saved in Draft was the first line I wrote!  And let me tell you - I was on last night!  It was amazing and insightful!  Best I've written! But no one will ever get to read it because it is lost in cyberspace. I will try to remember the brilliance I wrote but I can not promise.

Chrissy has learned some new "tricks"
  • She discovered how to jump over the baby gate!  I came home Tuesday - went to the bathroom before I let her out of the kitchen - suddenly she was standing in the bathroom wagging her little stubby tail!  I was hoping it was a fluke but yesterday when I went to leave for work she caught up to me at the front door.  I have now built an additional "wall" using panels from the Puppy pen.  This morning I pulled up the Webcam on my computer at work and couldn't see her - I called L to have her go to the kitchen and see if she was stuck between the wall and the gate.  L suddenly laughed and said "Nope - she's sitting outside my door!"  Good God - the dog figured out how to move the wall and then jump the gate.  What will she figure out next.
  • Chrissy can now go both up and down the stairs - she likes to stop and look through the opening between the steps - Makes my tailbone twitch!  Hope she doesn't decide to jump!
  • Now gone 3 days without any "accidents" - She may be getting the hang of this potty training thing.
  • Last night she curled up on the bed with me and I thought - OK, we'll give this a try and see if she can make it through the night.  Yeah - we lasted about 5 minutes!  Every time I moved her head would pop up like a gopher and she was all twitchy and looking around.  Not gonna work - so into her crate she went.  I think she really likes her crate - she fluffs up the bed and blankets and gets all comfy - making a pillow out of her blanket.
Life with L is going OK - there's not been any yelling or drama so far.  I'm just so used to only having the pets living here with me that an additional adult makes it feel very crowded.  There may be some drama coming up as I need to have a discussion with her about helping with chores, job hunting, and following up on jobs she's applied to.  I'm thinking that there is a possibility of hearing lots of  I Know, I'm Trying, You're Stressing Me Out, I Don't Want To Talk About It.  Whatever happens you can be assured that you will read about it.

OMG!!!  It happened again!  Just as I went to click publish . . . my Internet crapped out!  This time though I did a copy and past in to a Word Document!

Chrissy On The Mend

OK – Chrissy doesn’t seem to be too broken anymore. She was still pretty skittish last night when I got home. This morning though – she was all bouncy when we went outside – full of puppy energy! When we went back upstairs she did get a little subdued. I have been watching her on the webcam all day and she seems to be more herself. Playing with toys – eating – barking – and she was just standing on top of her crate! We shall see what she’s like when I get home tonight.

I get to make a detour on my way home tonight – have to go pick L up from E’s and bring her home. He is staying in Redmond/Bellevue with his Dad over by 148th St near where ADP used to be when I worked there. I believe L is going to pay me for parking and gas for doing this – I would normally have told her to figure out a bus route to get home but she brought her desktop over there so they could play WOW. I will probably head out of here fairly soon so I can be home at a decent hour to take the dog out for a bit – do some chores – then watch the Season Finale of GLEE!

Yesterday I stopped by Target on my way home and picked up a new floor lamp. On my way back home I almost got side swiped by an idiot driver!! I was on Front Street – had just gone under I90 – the light was green so my line of cars was proceeding through the light. All of a sudden this black car comes flying down the I90 off-ramp – doesn’t even slow down – and tries to pull into the line of cars! He had a frickin stop light – it’s only a free right turn if there is no traffic!! I turned my head and looked right at him and told him he was a F***ng Idiot that he had a F***ng Stop Light!! The driver and the passenger both then started flipping me off!! So I of course had to flip them off and got more indignant because I hadn’t done anything wrong! Stupid Idiot Drivers!!

OK – I’m going to get ready to head on out of here!  I better get home soon seeing as Chrissy is now standing on top of her crate and trying to eat it!

Chrissy

I think L & E broke my puppy. :-(

Yesterday Chrissy went to the groomers for the first time. She was a little nervous being dropped off but she was a trooper. When I picked her up she was a little shaky but once I got her home she was her usual peppy – chase the cat – play with her toys little girl. After a bit she got sleepy and curled up on a pillow on the couch and started to take a nap.

During this time L, E, & I were playing a board game – E rolled the dice and one of them went under the couch. Instead of just reaching his hand underneath to find it he decided to tip the couch up a bit. This started a domino effect of the couch hitting the floor lamp, which then hit the wall and rolled down it and hit the ground, resulting in a very loud crash as the shade shattered into small pieces. The loud noise woke Chrissy up with a start and she started shaking – she hasn’t really stopped since. She has been really skittish – any kind of loud noise sends her shaking – even the rattling of a bag. She won’t play with her toys or the cat. This morning she just sat at my feet while I got ready for work. I have been watching her on the Webcam since I got to work and she hasn’t left her crate at all.

I think they broke my puppy!

I don’t know what to do. She has me all worried – I don’t want her to be afraid of everything now. She was such an energetic – fun little girl.

Any suggestions or have any of you experienced this with your pups?

Just Some Chatter

So I'm sitting here just staring at this blank screen trying to come up with something to write.  It wasn't a very eventful day so I don't have a lot of drama to tell you.  L was over at E's house overnight so last night was nice and quiet - I picked her up on my way home from work - we got home and had leftover meatloaf for dinner! She has spent the rest of the evening in her room - which is nice and quiet but that old feeling of - What is she up to - creeps into my head and stomach.  Learned responses - takes a while for them to go away - be unlearned.

Chrissy learned a new trick this morning.  She was circling the house with her squirrelly in her mouth - whining a bit because she couldn't find a good place to hide it.  She was in my room while I was in the bathroom - suddenly she was no longer on the floor - she was on top of her crate! She then made the leap and was on top of my bed!  I guess under my covers was a good spot to hide squirrelly.  She needs to stop learning tricks from the cats!  While I was watching her on Chrissy Cam at work I kept expecting to see her move the crate over to the gate and use it to help her make a break for it.Y'all know that's gonna be the next trick!

Tomorrow is National Doughnut Day!!  At work J sent out a reminder email to everyone and subtly asked for the one person who lives in North Bend - where there is a bakery that makes the most delicious doughnuts - if they might consider bringing some in for everyone!  That person then responded to the email and said he had just pre-ordered 2 Dozen for tomorrow! Yay!!!  Thanks J & N!

No big weekend plans yet.  E is coming over to hang out on Sunday and I'm making Homemade Chicken Pot Pie for dinner.  I need to come up with dessert too - probably something fairly simple.  I probably should give the groomers a call too and see if they have any openings this weekend - Chrissy has been here for 2 weeks now and is looking rather scraggly - I'll be sad to see her dark tips go though - I kinda like them.  It will be interesting to see what color she is under all that fur though!  If she gets an appt I will take before and after pics.

::Sigh::

OK - I think Chrissy might have just a bit of bloodhound in her - she constantly has her nose to the ground sniffy sniffing - which is cute and all but it makes it very difficult to know if she's playing or needs to go outside!  She is still very very entertaining and very persistant.  Monday she kept trying and trying until she finally was able to . . . . . jump up on to the couch from the backside!  She saw that the cats could do it and just kept at it until she was up and over.  She hasn't done it since - i think the satisfaction in knowing she can do it was probably enough for now.

So - month end started this week.  I got in to work yesterday - with allergies hitting me very hard but I knew I had to go in - started getting everything all organized and got some spreadsheets finished.  Around 100 my phone rings - it's L - she had gone outside with the dog and locked herself out!  Good grief!  If it was just her I would have said tough luck - but I didn't want her wandering all over hell and gone again with Chrissy so I packed up my invoices and came home.  I swear it was like trying to work with 2 toddlers running around - no L wasn't one of them - ity was Chrissy and Buffy!!  Chasing - making noise - knocking into everything.  I yelled at them and said "Knock it off before someone gets hurt!"  Yeah - didn't quite work.  I have a really hard time knowing if they are playing or if one of them is getting really pissed.

Day 2 of close went a bit better - I at least was at work the whole day!  I was feeling the stress though - for some reason it just doesn't feel as smooth as it did last month.  Not sure why yet.

Life with L is going ok - there hasn't been any fights or drama - but her stuff is everywhere, her room smells, I can just feel my blood pressure rise when I hear her - Must be a learned response from the previous times she lived here.  I was thinking that the headache was from allergies but it is possible that it is from the underlying stress, the odors, and allergies.  The ringing in my ears is back too.

Why does Chrissy insist on chewing on everything but her toys!!  She has a ton of toys and yet she steals my socks - grabs my shoes - loves to grab grocery receipts and tear them up!!  It's definitely like having a baby in the house.  Someone remind again why I did this!!

OK - time to put the child to bed - shut down the house - prepare for another day of work.
